This past weekend, May 9, 2015, the Service Team at Redline Speed Worx (RSW) had the pleasure of hosting North New Jersey Region Porsche Club of America (NNJR PCA) most recent Tech Session. Our Team of experienced Porsche Technicians worked hand-in-hand with PCA Organizers to train attendees on brake system operation, repair, servicing, pad bedding, and brake fluid flushing.
Two local NNJR PCA owners brought in a 996 Carrera, and a 930 911 SC to walk through the difference in brake system on the older 911 (930) when compared to the new late model 996 chassis.
Both JR and our shop foreman John Miller spent time reviewing each of the components in both vehicles, what there purpose & operation was. In addition, a brief overview of pad and rotor replacement was done on the 930 and 996 to allow owners to understand the requirements of the service if they were to tackle it at home or at the track.
While Ken, the owner of the 996 Carrera was removing his calipers he had difficulty getting the two caliper hold down bolts completely out of the carrier. With a little help from our Service Team the hardware was removed without much difficulty. Our team used this time to explain the benefits of chasing & re-tapping when issues arise on older Porsche models.
The RSW Service Team had a great time meeting local Porsche Owners at our first PCA Tech Event! We thank all that attended for providing us with the opportunity to provide a tour of our facility located in Green Brook, NJ as well as a bit of education about their own Porsche vehicles! Stay tuned for our next NNJR PCA Tech event where we will cover the importance of suspension setup, alignment, and corner balancing!
