Redline Speed Worx is Proud to FINALLY Present to you, the hands-down most in depth build / project we have taken on to date, the LOBA Motorsport Built Stroker 3.0L LO750 Powered Audi OEM B5 RS4 Widebody Sedan Conversion!
The start of this project began when the owner viewed the scope of work we ( at the time ) were completing on our Worx Wagon build, and then well things quickly progressed into building something on a completely different level of awesome-ness.
We aligned ourselves with top tier suppliers to work with on the conversion of what started as a run of the mill Stage 3 K04 S4, and first on the list was working with LOBA Motorsport to supply us with their fully machined & cnc'd 3.0L Stroker conversion short block. We chose to pair the LOBA 3.0L up with our already tested & proven 2.8L V6 CNC Ported Cylinder Heads. Our heads feature complete CNC Porting & Polishing on both the intake / exhaust ports, full +1MM Ferrea valvetrain as well as Loba Motorsport 2.7T Sport Camshafts.
We worked closely with our customer to choose a turbocharger for this build, the application led to the need to have a quick spooling setup, with amazing drivability. The owner was not concerned with making crazy dyno / horsepower figures, but more with the longevity of the system and daily aggressive use. The Loba LO750 OEM modified RS6 Turbocharger fit the bill perfectly, and what better way to compliment the Loba Motorsport 3.0L stroker than with their top of the line turbochargers!
The S4 Conversion's power plant was not the only area of focus on this build, in order to ensure the RS4's new wide footprint no expense was spared on the vehicle's coilover setup. We chose to work with ANZE Suspension to provide a top of the line solution for this custom built Audi.
ANZE Suspension designs the components that are needed to fit or adapt the Penske Racing Shock to your shock application; they are shock fitment specialist. ANZE Suspension is the only company in the United States authorized to do this type of fitment with Penske Racing Shocks. They proudly meet or exceed Penske Racing Shocks high level of quality.
With the assurance of the Anze / Penske suspension system keeping the RS4 conversion planted, proper braking components and rollers were required to ensure a long useable life span of the vehicle in the harsh North East climate. The Audi S4 was outfitted with a complete Stoptech Front & Rear package which utilized the ST-40, ST- 22, & ST-10 Calipers. The Red Calipers, and Zinc Coated & Slotted Rotors not only performed, but looked amazing behind the Gloss Charcoal HRE Performance Wheels!
Most of the components on this project were hand fit & fabricated for the particular application. That included the complete intercooler system, which was built around the use of our thermal coating on AMD's side mount intercoolers, as well as the in house built 2.5" aluminum intercooler bi-pipe up to the OEM Audi RS4 Metal Throttle body boot. Our upgrade ensures that there is minimal connection points as well as limited any boost leak possibilities.
This project also features a custom tailer fuel system upgrade to help support the power levels & reliability the customer was looking to obtain. We chose to upgrade both the feed and return fuel lines from the fuel tank all the way to the engine in the entire vehicle with full aluminum fuel line.
With the engine back into the vehicle and final assembly well under way, we took the opportunity to upgrade the vehicle's old out dated ignition system to the move advanced late model VW / Audi Coilpacks along with re-wiring the vehicle's engine harness to ensure proper operation. We utilized Integrated Engineering's Coilpack Adapter Set For 2.7T Engines With FSI/TSI Coilpacks.
Not only did we take the time to properly re-wire the harness for the coil pack upgrade, but we also re-wired, soldered, and re-pined the engine harness for direct use of the Bosch EV14 Fuel Injectors supplied to us by European Performance Labs (EPL), who would be completing all tuning on this build.
One of the last pieces of this complex puzzle was a proper methanol injection system, and we trust these duties to no one other than Aquamist, and their HFS-3 paired along with a Howerton Engineering dual gallon fully enclosed, illuminated, and cooled tank system!
One of the last touches that went into the RS4 Conversion was a set of RECARO Sportster CS seats, along with carbon fiber interior accents to achieve the overall RS4 transformation!
After two long years gradually making continual progress on the build of this Loba powered RS4, we were able to officially un-veil it at Waterfest 19!
With the cool fall weather in full effect we brought this newly built beast up to visit our long time friend Tony Chick, Owner of European Performance Labs (EPL), to get the tuning dialed in and see what our initial output would be on just pump fuel (93 Octane) and 100% methanol. We were very pleased with the initial numbers, and driving characteristics!
