Well as spring has sprung so have the supercars. One car we never get tired of seeing roll through the doors is the 991 Turbo S. There is something about the combination of brutal speed in a package that your grandmother could drive that just makes it so appealing, so user friendly and capable at the same time.
Not only do we love when to see Porsche 991 Turbo S cars come in the shop, but we also love when the customers aren’t scared to improve them!
Making improvements on such a finely polished product as the 991 Turbo is difficult. In order to do so it is important to choose well engineered parts, otherwise you can actually be doing more harm than good to the car.
As you know the changes you make to a vehicle are only as good as the tuning solution you have for the vehicle. Luckily for us this customer was aware of that and has secured a Cobb Accessport for all of his tuning needs, which will work wonderfully in conjunction with the IPD Intake Plenum, IPD Y-Pipe, and Full Exhaust.
The IPD Y-Pipe is considerably larger in diameter and has much smoother transitions in the bends.

In addition to the overall shape being unique, the inlet areas have dimple designs in the wall of the pipe to assist airflow through turbulent sections.
The inlet of the IPD Plenum receives the same treatment.
And here it is after installation after the technician has secured both pieces and paint marked them for visual confirmation of nothing getting loose!
In addition to the IPD components a full Kline Inconel exhaust system was installed on this vehicle. It’s always neat to get a glimpse of the turbine wheels when the downpipes are off.
The system was a complete Header-Back package and should help free up some additional power over the stock unit.
The exhaust is installed from the front to the back, so after the OEM unit has been removed we started with the headers, then moved to the rear with all the supplied hardware from our friends at By Design.
Next step was installing the rear section, attaching the 02 sensors, and making sure everything was snug and ready to go.
After the work is completed and the rear engine compartment is all buttoned up, all the goodies are hidden, but the owner knows there’s a little something extra lurking beneath that intake!
After she was all buttoned up we re-installed the gorgeous HRE summer wheel/tire setup and sent her on her way. We have a feeling this car might be visiting some roll races with our other customers, and this may just be the beginning of a very capable vehicle!
