There’s something about sleeper appeal that never gets old. Having a fast car that looks fast is fun, but as we have all aged here at the shop we can’t deny that we are all suckers for sleepers, and this Audi S6 wears a great disguise. The stock engine is plenty capable, the 4.0T V8 is a great unit with so much potential. Coupled with a fast shifting, capable transmission and an all-wheel drive train there was never a question that it was going to be fast out of the hole, that was a given, but in order to make it really breathe on the top end more work had to be done. The modern Audi S5 is a great car. It's not the fastest, the lightest, nor the smallest. But it does lots of things very well, and we happen to think it’s a great GT cruiser. There are very few cars out there that are able to offer the all-season prowess combined with the big coupe body with a competent drivetrain. If there was one thing we would change about the S5 from the factory is the power. It’s not slow from the factory but it is such a well sorted chassis that you can tell it’s just begging for a little more motivation.The modern Audi S5 is a great car. The MK7 Golf R's have been on the market for a short while and now the aftermarket is starting to catch up!One of or Performance Partners, APR, has just released a trio of new products for the 1.8T / 2.0T MQB Platform. They aren’t exclusively for the Golf R but we happened to document the installation of their new High Flow Intercooler and Boost Hose Kit on this gorgeous 2016 model last night. Although the car only had a few hundred miles on it the owner hasn’t been hesitant to make improvements where he saw fit.
